«Cap al cel obert» is the adventure novel by Carme Riera, published by Destino CAT in paperback, in Catalan.
In the nineteenth century, in Havana, two brothers from a wealthy Mallorcan family gamble their future on cards; the bet drags in their cousins Isabel and Maria Fortesa, who leave Mallorca for Cuba. Riera combines adventure with a political reflection on the national question and emigration in colonial Cuba.
It belongs to the L'Ancora collection and closes the narrative cycle begun with «Dins el darrer blau», about the converso Jews of seventeenth-century Mallorca. Winner of the Premi de la Crítica Serra d'Or.
For readers of historical and adventure fiction, with an interest in Carme Riera's narrative and Balearic emigration to Cuba.
