«El quadern gris» is the diary of Josep Pla, published by labutxaca in paperback (752 pages, in Catalan).
Written between March 1918 and November 1919, it is the youthful diary of Josep Pla: at twenty, he abandons medicine, studies law, and enters Noucentista Barcelona. It portrays his native Empordà and life in the capital, with the concerns awakened by the people he meets at the Ateneo Barcelonés.
This diary opens the Obra completa series (Destino), where it occupies volume 1. Josep Pla fixed the definitive version of the diary in 1966.
