«Brucia Troia» is a contemporary fiction novel by Sandro Veronesi, published by Bompiani in paperback (232 pages, in Italian).
In Brucia Troia, set in Italy in the 1950s and 1960s, two worlds coexist: the Cantiere, a degraded neighbourhood of those marginalised by the economic boom, and the Cherubini foundling home, run by former missionary Father Spartaco, obsessed with erecting a monument to the Virgin against progress. Salvatore, escaped from the orphanage, takes refuge in the Cantiere, where he meets Omero, Miccina and Pampa.
The novel was published in 2007 in Bompiani's Narratori italiani collection and corresponds to the first edition.
For readers of contemporary Italian fiction interested in stories with a social backdrop and characters on the margins of progress.
