In 'Saving Lives in the Mediterranean', Sandro Veronesi addresses the humanitarian crisis of immigrants adrift in the Mediterranean and the legal harassment suffered by NGOs trying to rescue them. The author embarks on one of the rescue ships, talks with Òscar Camps, creator of Proactiva Open Arms, writes an open letter to Roberto Saviano, and sends tweets to Minister Mateo Salvini. In this essay, Veronesi denounces the stance of governments, lies, racism, and puts international maritime law on the table, calling for action and the fight for dignity.
