Set in northern England during the 1984 miner's strike, Billy Elliot tells the story of a young working-class boy who chooses to pursue his dream of becoming a ballet dancer instead of following his father's wishes to train as a boxer. Fascinated by the ballet class at his gym, Billy must hide his talent from his family while discovering that dancing is the fire inside him.
