«Bajo el signo de la esvástica» is the historical reportage by Manuel Chaves Nogales, published by Almuzara in paperback (152 pages, in Spanish).
Manuel Chaves Nogales travelled to Nazi Germany in May 1933 and wrote for the newspaper Ahora a series of chronicles about how National Socialism was spreading among the population. He denounces the marginalisation of the Jews and anticipates their annihilation. The work includes an interview with Joseph Goebbels and observations on world politics.
Subtitled «Cómo se vive en los países de régimen fascista», it belongs to Almuzara's Historia collection; this 2012 edition follows the one produced by María Isabel Cintas Guillén.
Recommended for readers interested in the history of Europe, Nazism and journalism in the first half of the twentieth century.
Manuel Chaves Nogales was a Spanish journalist and writer. Politically he was a moderate left-wing republican democrat who defined himself as "antifascist and antirevolutionary". As such, he was an enthusiastic supporter of the Second Spanish Republic.
