The volume brings together two stories featuring Babar. In the first, Babar and another elephant, dressed for the cold, walk through a snowy landscape and find a mammoth; in the second, a freshwater snake appears. The illustrations show the snow, the trees and the elephants.

Text in French. The cover presents it within the collections «Mes premières histoires de Babar» and «La Bibliothèque Hachette des Petits».

For the youngest children beginning to read and for shared reading in the family; the cover motto «On lit avec maman» reinforces that use.
