«Andanzas de los héroes del 2 de mayo» is the historical youth novel by Francisco Díaz Valladares, published by Bruño in paperback (168 pages).
This book adapts the novel by Benito Pérez Galdós El 19 de marzo y el 2 de mayo. Through Gabriel, a child of the era, it recreates the Madrid of 1808 and the uprising against the French invasion; his childish gaze mixes everyday episodes with others of great harshness, showing the courage of those who fought for Spain.
It is the sixth title in the Andanzas collection from Bruño, aimed at readers aged 10 and up. The edition includes illustrations by Alicia Cañas Cortázar and a prologue by César Vidal.
Recommended for young readers aged 10 and up, especially in a school setting, as an introduction to the history of Spain and the classics of Galdós.
