In "1936: The Myths of the Civil War", Enrique Moradiellos offers a balanced and updated historiographical look at the Spanish Civil War. The author examines the conflict, which lasted almost three years, from July 1936 to April 1939, not as a heroic deed or an act of collective madness, but as a deep and violent schism in a divided society. Moradiellos, Professor of Contemporary History, seeks to explain both the origin and the development and outcome of this conflict.
