«Era» is the self-titled debut album by Era, released in 1996 by Mercury, on CD.
The album combines Gregorian chants with electronic and rock, alternating solemn choirs, synthesizers and guitars. Its sound is close to new age and ambient, with a dark, medieval atmosphere that also appears on the cover, where a sword, crosses and ancient writing are seen. The song «Ameno» belongs to this work and exemplifies that fusion of the ancient and the modern.
The French CD edition, published by Mercury, carries catalogue number 534 335-2. It is Era's first work.
For listeners of new age, ambient and electronic music looking for atmospheric albums with choirs and a nineties sound.
