He was born in the Floresta neighbourhood of Buenos Aires on 30 October 1949, into a modest Jewish family.
He graduated in Medicine from the University of Buenos Aires in 1973 and specialised in Psychiatry with Gestalt training.
He structured his work around The Road to Self-Dependence, a five-book series on the stages of life.
His books have sold more than 4 million copies and have been translated into more than 30 languages since the 1990s.
He calls himself a 'professional helper' and has popularised the therapeutic tale as a tool in Spanish-language psychotherapy.
