Richard Arthur Warren Hughes was a writer of poems, short stories, novels and plays.
Richard Hughes wrote Danger, which is recognized as the world's first radio play.
His literary talent was evident early on, as he published an essay in The Spectator while still a student.
He collaborated closely with poet Robert Graves to co-edit the publication Oxford Poetry.
His novel A High Wind in Jamaica, also known as Innocent Voyage, remains one of his most iconic works.
He hosted Dylan Thomas at his home in Wales, where the poet wrote part of his work.
