Jim Butcher is a martial arts enthusiast with fifteen years of experience in various styles including Tae Kwon Do and Kung Fu.

Before becoming a full-time writer, he worked as a summer camp horse wrangler and performed in stunt riding exhibitions.

He uses the online moniker Longshot, a name he chose in the 1990s when he set out to become a published author against the odds.

He enjoys diverse hobbies such as fencing, singing, live-action gaming, and watching bad science fiction movies.

The creator of The Dresden Files currently resides in Missouri with his wife, son, and a vicious guard dog.
