«Vendetta» is the crime suspense novel by R. J. Ellory, published by Le Livre de Poche in paperback, in French.
In 2006, in New Orleans, Catherine, daughter of the governor of Louisiana, is kidnapped and her bodyguard killed. The FBI takes on the case, but the kidnapper, Ernesto Perez, surrenders and demands to speak with Ray Hartmann, an obscure Washington official specialised in the fight against organised crime. What follows is a long confrontation between the two that leads to a surprising final twist.
Vendetta is the French version of A Quiet Vendetta, a novel originally published in 2005; this Le Livre de Poche edition (2010) won the Prix des libraires du Québec in the Lauréats hors Québec category.
Ideal for readers of thrillers and suspense with police and political intrigue, featuring a kidnapping plot and psychological confrontation.
