«Untold Stories» is Alan Bennett's anthology of prose and memoirs, published by Faber & Faber in hardback (560 pages, in English).
It brings together Alan Bennett's essential prose from a decade: a family memoir about his parents, his aunts and a long-kept secret, along with his diaries from 1996 to 2004. It adds essays, reviews, lectures and recollections ranging from childhood in Leeds to reflections on writing, honours and the tribute to Thora Hird.
«Untold Stories» is the second volume in the «Alan Bennett Diaries» series and a continuation of «Writing Home»; it was originally published in 2005.
Aimed at readers interested in memoirs, diaries and essays with British humour, and at admirers of Alan Bennett.
Alan Bennett is an English playwright, author, actor and screenwriter. He has received numerous awards and honours including four BAFTA Awards, four Laurence Olivier Awards, and two Tony Awards. In 2005, he received the Society of London Theatre Special Award.
