«Tots els ports es diuen Helena» is the coming-of-age novel by Joan Barril Cuxart, published by Labutxaca in paperback (192 pages, in Catalan).
Guillem, a twelve-year-old boy, lives by a canal in Bruges with Pier, his mother's taciturn partner, who works in river transport. Together they travel through the heart of Europe, from Rotterdam to the Black Sea: a journey about the awakening of the senses, love, the chimera of heroism, and music as the thread of the soul's landscapes.
Winner of the Premi Ramon Muntaner 1998. Originally published in 1999; this Labutxaca edition is from 2010.
For readers of contemporary narrative in Catalan and coming-of-age novels; also considered young adult literature.
