«Top of the Class (Nearly)» is Liz Pichon's humorous children's novel, published by Scholastic in hardback (240 pages, in English).
Tom Gates aspires to be the best in his class and to get on the school council, but his tendency to draw caricatures of teachers, his distractions and his sister Delia don't make it easy. The novel combines text with abundant illustrations and margin notes, and follows Tom's chaotic school day-to-day between homework, music bands and plans that rarely turn out as he expects.
Ninth volume in the Tom Gates series, published on 8 October 2015. It has also been distributed in Spanish as «Tom Gates. Top Of The Class: 9».
For young readers aged 9 to 12, especially those who enjoy school humour and illustrated books.
