«The Very Hungry Caterpillar» is the classic children's picture book by Eric Carle, published by Penguin UK in hardback (32 pages, in English).
One Sunday morning, a tiny caterpillar hatches from its egg, very hungry. Day by day, the caterpillar eats increasingly varied foods; the die-cut holes in the pages invite readers to trace the journey with a finger. With collage illustrations, the story moves from egg to cocoon and reflects the cycle of nature.
This hardback edition includes a CD with a reading by Eric Carle himself; its ISBN-10 is 024101798X.
Suitable for young children, it works very well as a read-aloud and as a first introduction to picture books in English.
