«The Real Business of IT: How CIOs Create and Communicate Value» is the management essay by Richard Hunter and George Westerman, published by Harvard Business Press in hardback (218 pages, in English).
The book starts from the idea that IT teams are often seen as a cost centre, largely because their leaders do not adequately communicate the value they bring to the business. The authors propose three ways to demonstrate that value: the efficiency and effectiveness of operations, the contribution of technology to the profitability of different areas, and the personal role of CIOs as strategic leaders of the company.
Work linked to Gartner, with an edition published in 2009. The book focuses on the management of information technology and information systems, with practical examples based on the experience of industry executives.
Aimed at CIOs and IT managers who need to justify the impact of the technology department to senior management and to those making decisions on technology investment.
Evan Hunter was an American author of crime and mystery fiction. He is best known as the author of the 87th Precinct novels, published under the pen name Ed McBain, which are considered staples of the police procedural genre.
