«The Norsemen» is Helene A. Guerber's collection of Norse mythology, published by Avenel Books in hardback (397 pages, in English).
It gathers the great Norse myths from the Eddas and Viking sagas: the deeds of Odin, Thor, Balder and the Valkyries, among others. These are heroic and tragic tales that exalt the courage and nobility admired by medieval warriors. The work shows how these legends passed from Icelandic oral tradition to written prose.
It belongs to the Myths and Legends collection, which includes volumes devoted to other mythologies. The original work, Myths of the Norsemen: From the Eddas and Sagas, was published in 1895.
For readers interested in Norse mythology, Viking sagas and medieval folklore, as well as in editions of the Myths and Legends series.
