«The Easter Story» is Brian Wildsmith's children's picture book, published by Oxford University Press in paperback (32 pages, in English).
The biblical story of Easter is told from the perspective of the donkey that leads Jesus to Jerusalem. The animal attends the Last Supper, watches Jesus before Pontius Pilate, accompanies the crucifixion and, finally, witnesses the joy of the resurrection. A children's version of the gospel with illustrations by Brian Wildsmith.
The work was originally published in 1993; the 2008 edition is a reissue.
A book suitable for children aged 5 to 8, designed to be read and shared with the family.

Brian Lawrence Wildsmith was a British painter and children's book illustrator. He won the 1962 Kate Greenaway Medal for British children's book illustration, for the wordless alphabet book ABC. In all his books, the illustrations are always as important as the text.
