«The Cucumber Man» is David Nobbs's humorous novel, published by Arrow in paperback (374 pages, in English).
In 1957, Henry Pratt has finished his military service and leaves behind his failed career as a novice journalist in Thurmarsh to work at the Cucumber Marketing Board in Leeds. Through the fifties, sixties, seventies and eighties he accumulates jobs, marriages and children in a moving and zany story about a divided Britain.
Third of the four novels in the Henry Pratt series. New edition published on 6 November 1995.
A read for fans of British comedy and social satire set in the second half of the twentieth century.
David Gordon Nobbs was an English comedy writer, most notable for writing the 1970s television series The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, adapted from his own novels.
