«Tales of Long Ago» is a collection of historical stories by Arthur Conan Doyle, published by Alma Books in paperback (192 pages, in English).
Conan Doyle, famous for Sherlock Holmes, here shows his historical storyteller side. The twelve stories in the volume take the reader to Roman Britain, ancient Carthage, Mecca in the time of the Prophet and other evocative settings, with adventures, mysteries and reconstruction of the past. A good gateway to a lesser-known side of the author.
Collection originally published as The Last of the Legions and Other Tales of Long Ago; this 2015 edition includes stories such as 'The Last of the Legions', 'Through the Veil' and 'The Silver Mirror'.
Recommended for readers interested in classic historical fiction and in Conan Doyle's work beyond Sherlock Holmes.

Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle was a British writer and physician. He is best known for his four novels and fifty-six short stories about the fictional consulting detective Sherlock Holmes and his assistant Dr. Watson, which are milestones in crime fiction, and for his first work featuring Professor Challenger, The Lost World (1912), which gave its name to a subgenre of speculative fiction. He was a prolific writer who produced over 200 stories and articles, four volumes of poetry, and a number of works for the stage. He was knighted by King Edward VII in the 1902 Coronation Honours.
