«Strangers and Traders» is a study in economic and social history by J. S. Eades, published by Africa World Press in hardback.
Yoruba traders from western Nigeria established a trading network in the Gold Coast (now Ghana) during the interwar period; in 1969 they were forced to leave the country. Using interviews and archives, J. S. Eades reconstructs this chain migration, its economic conditions and its impact on northern Ghana.
First American edition published in Trenton, New Jersey, as part of the International African Library series. Includes bibliography (pp. 215-225) and index.
An academic work aimed at historians, social science students and scholars of migration and the African economy.
