«Sitti's Secrets» is the children's picture book by Naomi Shihab Nye, published by Aladdin in paperback (32 pages, in English).
Mona travels from the United States to a small Palestinian village in the West Bank to visit her grandmother, whom she calls Sitti. Although they don't speak the same language, they invent their own language to share secrets and learn about each other's worlds. Upon returning home, the distance between them doesn't break the emotional bond they've created.
Illustrated by Nancy Carpenter, this edition belongs to the Aladdin Picture Books collection and was recognized with the Jane Addams Children's Book Award.
Recommended for readers aged 5 to 8, especially for addressing distance between generations and multicultural family ties.
