«Sinfonía africana» is the young adult novel by Michael Morpurgo, published by Editorial Luis Vives (Edelvives) in paperback (80 pages, in Spanish).
The story interweaves three voices: Olly, her brother Matt, and a starling she rescues and names Hero. Matt, who has always wanted to be a clown, travels to Africa to bring laughter back to children in a difficult situation; the bird's migration to the continent connects Matt's new life in Africa with the one his sister leaves behind, in a tale about separation, hope and solidarity.
This is the first edition, published in February 2003. Original title: Dear Olly. It belongs to the Alandar collection (no. 16) and includes a translation by Agustín Gervás.
Suitable for readers aged 11 to 15, especially those who enjoy stories about adventure, family and animals.

Sir Michael Andrew Bridge Morpurgo is an English book author, poet, playwright, and librettist who is known best for children's novels such as War Horse (1982). His work is noted for its "magical storytelling", for recurring themes such as the triumph of an outsider or survival, for characters' relationships with nature, and for vivid settings such as the Cornish coast or the trenches of the First World War. Morpurgo was the third Children's Laureate, from 2003 to 2005, and is President of BookTrust, a children's reading charity.
