«Si esto es un hombre» is Primo Levi's autobiographical testimony about the Holocaust, published by El Aleph in paperback (352 pages, in Spanish).
Levi recounts in the first person his deportation to Auschwitz during the Second World War: the hunger, the forced labour, the constant death and the dehumanisation of the prisoner. He also attends to those around him, busy surviving one more day; the result is a testimony about the Holocaust and a reflection on the human condition.
It is the first volume of the Auschwitz Trilogy. It was originally published in 1947 under the title «Se questo è un uomo». Translation by Pilar Gómez Bedate.
Suitable for readers interested in Holocaust testimonies, personal memoirs and the history of the Second World War.

Primo Michele Levi was a Jewish Italian chemist, partisan, Holocaust survivor and writer. He was the author of several books, collections of short stories, essays, poems and one novel. His best-known works include: If This Is a Man, his account of the year he spent as a prisoner in the Auschwitz concentration camp in Nazi-occupied Poland; and The Periodic Table (1975), a collection of mostly autobiographical short stories, each named after a chemical element which plays a role in each story, which the Royal Institution named the best science book ever written.
