Set in 1926, the story follows Sarane, a woman who marries a colonial officer in search of freedom, only to find herself lost in the Sahara. Captured by the Tuaregs, she becomes a prisoner of her love for Kheg, the lord of the desert. Years later, at the twilight of her life, Sarane reflects on her past, her lovers, and the choices that defined her journey. This graphic novel by Christian Lax is a poignant exploration of human adventure, independence, and memory set against the backdrop of early 20th-century North Africa.
