Four penniless writers are hired to write a cheap soap opera in the early hours: a Cinecittà veteran, an aspiring Hollywood screenwriter, a romantic novelist and a narrator. With creative freedom but forced to economise, they turn the assignment into a game that will achieve unexpected success and change their lives.
The novel was awarded the Grand Prix des lectrices de Elle in 1998. The cover presents it as a «roman».
