«Réquiem por un campesino español» is the short novel by Ramón J. Sender included in this hardback volume alongside «El verdugo afable».
The novel, set in an Aragonese village during the Spanish Civil War, reconstructs through the memory of Mosén Millán, the village priest, the story of Paco, a young peasant he loved like a son. It is a sober and intense narrative that shows the human drama of war from the priest's conscience.
«Réquiem por un campesino español» was originally published in 1953 under the title «Mosén Millán». The present volume was published by Mundo Actual de Ediciones in 1982.
For readers interested in classics of twentieth-century Spanish literature and in the Civil War as a narrative theme.
