«Queria Ter Alguém Minha Espera» is Anna Gavalda's collection of short stories, published by Dom Quixote in paperback (165 pages, in Portuguese).
The twelve stories in this book portray, with a realistic tone, scenes of everyday life in Paris. Gavalda observes people from different social groups —an aristocrat, a pregnant woman who has lost a child, an aspiring writer— and composes brief stories about loneliness, human relationships and the search for connection.
It is the fifth Portuguese edition of Anna Gavalda's debut work, originally published in 1999 as «Je voudrais que quelqu'un m'attende quelque part», winner of the Grand Prix RTL-Lire in 2000.
For readers of contemporary short fiction, especially those who enjoy everyday Parisian scenes and characters from diverse backgrounds.
Anna Gavalda is a French novelist.
