«Quemada viva» is the autobiographical testimony of Souad, published by RBA Coleccionables in hardback (215 pages, in Spanish).
Souad, a young Palestinian woman from the West Bank, tells how becoming pregnant outside marriage made her the victim of an honour crime: her brother-in-law sprayed her with petrol and set her on fire. The testimony recounts her survival, the help of a Swiss aid worker and her process of overcoming the trauma and raising her son.
Subtitle: «Castigada por amar antes del matrimonio». Part of the Testimonios de mujer collection. Translation by Mar Vidal; French original, «Brûlée vive».
A testimony for readers interested in memoirs, the situation of women and honour crimes.
