«Queen Lucia» is the satirical novel by E. F. Benson, published by 10/18 in paperback (432 pages, in French).
In Riseholme, a small English village where everyone meddles in others' lives, Lucia has established herself as social queen. Her rivalry with Daisy over throwing the best parties and attracting the most distinguished guests is disrupted by the arrival of a newcomer, in an ironic comedy about snobbery.
First instalment of the Mapp and Lucia cycle; the original novel was published in 1920. This French edition, translated by Yves-Marie Deshays and Patrick Micel, belongs to the «10/18 domaine étranger» collection.
A read for fans of English comedy and social satire, in the vein of P. G. Wodehouse.
