«Quartéis de Inverno» is the novel by Argentine writer Osvaldo Soriano, published by Edições Asa in paperback (160 pages, in Portuguese).
Set during the Argentine military dictatorship, the novel features a boxer and a tango singer on the eve of a grand party organized by the army to celebrate the new order. Through them, Soriano portrays the struggle for survival and dignity, and shows the cruelty of everyday, inexplicable violence, without falling into pamphleteering literature.
Portuguese translation by António José Massano of the original «Cuarteles de invierno» by Osvaldo Soriano, published in 1980. This Portuguese edition was published in 1993.
