«Quadern d'agost» is the young adult novel by Alice Vieira, published by Barcanova in paperback (192 pages, in Catalan).
A teenager recounts in her diary, over the month of August, the life around her: her parents' emotional and work ups and downs, her own worries and those of her brother. From time to time she adds the story of a young couple whose ending is not revealed, and everything forms a delicate puzzle that hooks from the first pages.
This edition is from 1998 and belongs to the Sopa de llibres collection (sèrie blava); it includes a translation by Goretti López and illustrations by Páliaz.
For young readers aged 9 to 12 who enjoy family stories told with humour and irony.
Alice Vieira is a Portuguese children's and adult books author.
