«Präriehundarna» is Jonas Gardell's novel published by Norstedts Pocket in paperback (265 pages, in Swedish).
With the irony that prairie dogs are adorable, vegetarian, and eat each other, the novel interweaves the lives of Percy, Lena, Reine, Pia and Anders: a couple awaits a vindication that never comes, the son gambles on art and love, and two other stories address the lack of purpose and the need to take risks.
Jonas Gardell's third novel, originally published in 1987; this Swedish edition is from 2002.
For readers of contemporary Swedish fiction interested in ensemble stories about identity, loneliness and LGBT characters.
