Chinese poet of Yi ethnicity Jidi Majia draws on folk traditions and the mythical imagery of his childhood to build an epic voice that dialogues with the present, integrating his people's ancestral religion into a reflection on global crises such as the pandemic and on a society that believed in the end of history.
Translation from Chinese to Portuguese by Nuno Júdice; the Chinese original is titled 裂开的星球. The edition was published in July 2021.
For readers of contemporary poetry interested in the traditions of the Yi people and in an epic, reflective look at the crises of the present.
