«Pirate Party» is the humorous children's pirate story by Scoular Anderson, published by Collins Educational in paperback (24 pages, in English).
Pirate Captain Codspawn celebrates his birthday with a party, but the big surprise is not the beetles in the butter or the spiders in the sugar, nor the pirate cake Cook prepares. The narrative plays with false clues until reaching a humorous ending: the best gift a pirate could wish for.
Published in 2005, it belongs to the Collins Big Cat series (Gold/Band 9); pages 22 and 23 include a pirate cake recipe. It is complemented by the non-fiction book How to be a Pirate.
Suitable for children aged 5 to 8 who are beginning to read in English, both in the classroom and at home, and for reading promotion activities.
