«País íntim» is the contemporary novel by Maria Barbal, published by Columna CAT in hardback (250 pages, in Catalan).
Rita Albera grows up wondering why her mother, if she loves her, makes her suffer; tenderness comes from her father and other close women. The novel illuminates the history of a land from the 1920s —civil war, dictatorship, opposition and transition— and Rita's attempt to reconcile with her heritage.
Fourth instalment of the Cicle del Pallars; part of the Clàssica collection from Columna CAT. Prudenci Bertrana Prize for fiction 2005.
