«Ostegunak» is the humour novel by Jon Arretxe Perez, published by Elkar in 1997 in paperback (112 pages, in Basque).
Ostegunak presents itself as a vindication of humour and mayhem as a way of enjoying reading, against the serious image often attributed to Basque literature. The nocturnal scene on the cover, with several characters in a festive street setting, reinforces that carefree tone.
Ostegunak is volume 177 of Elkar's Literatura collection; the first edition was published on 1 October 1997.
Aimed at adult readers aged 18 and over who want to approach Basque literature through humour and fun.
