«O Rei Rique e outras histórias» is a children's storybook by Ilse Losa, published by Porto Editora in 2006 in paperback (48 pages, in Portuguese).
It brings together five short tales in which fantasy coexists with a subtle critique of certain social behaviours and institutions. A young king who flees flattery, photographs that unite generations, a dog that discovers a taste for work and study, and the story of Joana, corrected by her teacher, are some of the episodes.
It is illustrated by Júlio Resende; Portugal's National Reading Plan recommended it for the 4th year and it belongs to the Oficina dos Sonhos collection.
For young readers: it can be read independently or with guidance in the classroom or at home.
