«O home que non quería soñar» is a children's storybook by Álvaro Magalhães, published by Edicións Xerais in paperback (80 pages, in Galician).
Seven short stories precede a dozen animal portraits. A man who does not want to dream, a mirror that shows what happens in the heart, a vain rose and a book that never ends coexist with small creatures like the ladybird or the cricket, and even a hippopotamus; the creatures end up protesting against insecticide.

Álvaro Magalhães is a Portuguese writer. In 1982 he published his first book, História com muitas letras. Since then, Álvaro Magalhães wrote many other stories. His most prominent work, in literature, however, is the series of books Triângulo Jota. These books are about three children, Jorge, Joana and Joel who solve crimes with paranormal contours. Álvaro Magalhães also received the award Grande Prémio Calouste Gulbenkian de Literatura para Crianças e Jovens 2002 for his book Hipopóptimos – Uma História de Amor.
