«O ceo dos afogados» is the adventure and intrigue novel by Francisco Castro, published by Edicións Xerais in paperback (192 pages, in Galician).
The story begins when all the dolphins on the planet gather at the same time in the same spot in the ocean and head towards the coast, only to stop suddenly in absolute silence. Faced with a phenomenon that satellite images show as almost perfect circles of thousands of dolphins, scientists find no explanation. Beneath the guise of an adventure, the work reflects on communication between humans and animals and on the sustainable development of the planet.
This is Francisco Castro's first novel in the Fóra de Xogo collection. It was a finalist for the Fundación Caixa Galicia Prize for youth literature.
Recommended for young readers aged 12 and up, especially those interested in mystery stories with animals and an ecological message.
