«Novelas ejemplares» is a selection of short novels by Miguel de Cervantes, published by Editorial Bruño in paperback (296 pages, in Spanish).
Cervantes published these short novels in 1613 and in his prologue claims to have been the first to write novels in the Castilian language. The selection brings together «Rinconete y Cortadillo», «El licenciado Vidriera» and «La ilustre fregona», three tales close to the picaresque where social criticism is tinged with optimism.
The 2013 edition, prepared by Francisco de Borja Rodríguez Álamo, belongs to the Biblioteca Clásica Bruño collection.
Aimed at secondary and high school students and at those who want to start with Cervantes through a selection of his novels.

Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (Alcalá de Henares, 1547 — Madrid, 1616) is the most iconic writer of Spanish literature and a cornerstone of world literature. A novelist, poet, playwright and soldier, he led an adventurous life before writing 'Don Quixote of La Mancha', regarded as the first modern novel and one of the most translated works in history.
