«Nordeste» is the novel by Eric Fottorino, published by Stock in paperback (235 pages, in French).
The narrator recalls his childhood in the Amazon with his brother Pacifico and Waldemar Cuzco, the man who accompanied them when they left the jungle and set out for Europe. Thirty years later, the memory of Cuzco and his parting words remain: memory, uprootedness and the search for Brazilian roots run through the story.
«Nordeste» was published in 1999 and is Eric Fottorino's fourth novel, after «Rochelle» (1991), «Les Éphémères» (1994) and «Coeur d'Afrique» (1997).
For readers of literary fiction interested in novels about memory, identity and the uprootedness of those who grow up far from their country.
