«¡No es un papagayo!» is the children's story by Rafik Schami, illustrated by Wolf Erlbruch, published by EDICIONES SM in hardback (46 pages, in Spanish).
One night, Lina's family decides to buy a pet. After hesitating between a dog and a cat, at the pet shop they recommend a parrot that they claim talks, but the bird doesn't say a word. Lina insists it's not a parrot, but a «mamagayo» that only talks when it wants to. The family accepts it, and Lina and the bird become friends.
Fourth title in SM's Barco de Vapor Azul collection. The German original, «Das ist kein Papagei!», dates from 1994; the Spanish edition was published in 2003.
Recommended for readers aged 7 to 10, especially for early readers starting to read chapters.
