«My Friend Is Sad» is a children's book by Mo Willems, published by Scholastic Inc. in 2008, in paperback (57 pages, in English).
Gerald, the elephant with glasses, is sad. Piggie tries to cheer him up with costumes and antics, but Gerald doesn't recognize her and remains unhappy. In the end, the solution is simpler than it seems: being together and sharing what happened brings joy back to both friends.
Second book in Mo Willems' Elephant & Piggie series, featuring the elephant Gerald and the pig Piggie.
Suitable for early readers starting to read in English and for children who enjoy animal stories, with brief text and visual humor.
