«Mrs Lather's Laundry» is Allan Ahlberg's children's story, published by Puffin in paperback (24 pages, in English).
Mrs Lather is fed up with washing socks, sheets, T-shirts and trousers, so she decides that from now on she will only wash things that aren't clothes. Soon her customers start bringing her the most unusual requests, in a story full of absurd situations and humour.
Originally published in 1981, the book is illustrated by André Amstutz and belongs to the Happy Families series, guided by educational adviser Brian Thompson.
Aimed at beginner readers aged 5 to 7; also suitable for reading at home or at school.
Janet Ahlberg and Allan Ahlberg were a British married couple who created many children's books, including picture books that regularly appear at the top of "most popular" lists for public libraries. They worked together for 20 years until Janet's death from cancer in 1994. He wrote the books and she illustrated many of them. Allan also wrote dozens of books with other illustrators.
