«Mr Gumpy's Outing» is John Burningham's children's picture book, published by Red Fox in 2020 in paperback, in English.
In this children's story, Mr Gumpy sets out in his boat along a river, and soon several children and animals join him. The outing makes its way through a rural landscape of vegetation and calm waters, with hand-drawn illustrations and soft colours that accompany the narration.
Due to its theme and illustrations, it is aimed at a children's audience.
John Burningham was an English author and illustrator of picture books for young children. He lived in north London with his wife Helen Oxenbury, another illustrator. His last published work was a husband-and-wife collaboration, There's Going to Be a New Baby, written by John and illustrated by Helen for "ages 2+".
