For Gid, Thursdays are torture: swimming class. He has come up with as many as seventy tricks to skip it, but they can't be repeated and some are hard to put into practice. Seeing the pigeon man from the coach gives him strength to endure; when the new school year starts, the man is no longer there and Gid decides to go looking for him.
